- Montgomery Transport reinforces
their position as ‘Irish International
Haulier’, with the investment of seventy
new tractor units - 10th April 2010
Montgomery Transport has just taken
delivery of seventy Mercedes tractor
units, these are the first in a four
part order. The seventy units are made
up of Mercedes Axors and Actros which
were chosen because of their;
“…superb specification and design.
Features like intelligent Lane Assist, a
larger and more comfortable bed with
adjustable head section, and the
innovative PowerShift 2 gearbox all add
up to a truck that’s safer, more
comfortable and easier to drive.”
Twenty of the new tractor units have
already been delivered and are currently
serving many of Montgomery Transport’s
customers throughout Europe. The
remaining fifty will be delivered in
May, June and July 2010.

Montgomery Distribution Depot Relocation
On Monday 1st February 2010 Montgomery
Distribution Limited relocated their
distribution/warehousing facility from
Portadown to Ballyearl Business Park,
Newtownabbey.
The site at Ballyearl is situated
alongside the M2 motorway, and is
ideally situated between the ports of
Belfast and Larne. The relocation will
allow us to improve our capability to
make even earlier deliveries to the
majority of our customers.

Montgomery Transport has won the
‘International Haulier of the Year’
title at the prestigious annual Export &
Freight Transport & Logistics Awards.
The company picked up their award,
sponsored by Iveco, at a glittering
ceremony held recently in Belfast before
a packed audience of leading players in
the industry.
With 40 years of experience at the top
of the European logistics industry the

New Chill/Frozen Distribution
& Storage Facility
Montgomery Refrigerated have
concluded their move from Portadown to
their new cold store in Silverwood,
Lurgan. The facility opens up a new
scope of services to Montgomery
Refrigerated customers by offering the
following;
- 58,000 sq ft of storage for chill or frozen.
- Over 5,000 pallet spaces available for storage.
- Storage of product at any temperature required (short or long term).
- 5 blast freezers for fast freezing.
- All Ireland chilled distribution from 1 to 26 pallets.
- Product re packaging, re labelling.
- GB - Ireland chilled/frozen distribution on a groupage basis. Collection
and delivery to and from
any point in GB to all Ireland.
- POD retrieval via web site.

Quality Standard.
Montgomery TankServices Ltd recently had
their quality management systems audited
by the NQA. Items covered under this
review were “Transportation of bulk
liquids, fuel oils and powders in road
tankers and tank containers; bulk
storage and distribution; vehicle
servicing and maintenance; and tanker
washing.”
Following on from this successful audit
the companies quality systems have
revised and updated to the latest
standards:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System 2008.
- OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Management 2007.
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems 2004.

Tractor Fleet Investment
Montgomery Transport has further
invested in their tractor fleet with the
purchase of ten new units for their
European operation. The brand
combination in this strategic purchase
sees an increase in the Company’s
portfolio of leading manufacturers,
introducing five new flagship Renault
Magnums and five new Mercedes Mega
Spacecab Actros.
Both brands are top of the range,
demonstrating superb specification and
design, with features like Intelligent
Lane Assist, larger and more comfortable
cabin space, and the innovative Power
Shift 2 Gearbox all add up to trucks
that are safer, more comfortable and
easier to drive, enabling Montgomery
Transport to continue their prime focus
on customer service and satisfaction.
Driver CPC Approval
Montgomery Transport stays ahead of the
competition yet again as it is the first
privately owned transport company in
Northern Ireland to be awarded the
nationally recognized JAUPT Training
Center approval to offer Driver CPC
Training from September 2009. A project
team comprised of Human Resources,
Health and Safety and the Company’s team
of professional driver trainers secured
full accreditation on the first
application. Training Centres have been
approved in both Northern Ireland and
England and while initially designed for
the training of employees there is no
reason why the experience and skills
contained within the 5 courses that
comprise the Driver CPC cannot be
offered to third party customers.
The Future’s in the People
As one of the top employers in Northern
Ireland, Montgomery Transport continue
to recognize the importance of its
greatest asset, its staff. In an effort
to further develop and hone the skills
of the experienced teams working
throughout the UK the Company has
embraced the Modern Apprenticeship
Scheme and has entered into a training
partnership with People First to offer,
and fund, a modern apprenticeship course
to every employee. At this time some
thirty members of staff are engaged on a
modern apprenticeship which will lead to
a nationally recognised qualification in
a number of subjects including
operations management, warehousing,
business finance and customer services.

Montgomery Distribution is an
approved Palletways member for Northern Ireland. The Palletways UK distribution network is
comprised of over 100 depots, operated
by independent and established logistics
companies who combine their resources to
deliver palletised goods faster and more
cost effectively to the market via the
Palletways main hub operation in
Lichfield, Staffordshire.
